The development will create the new headquarters for Severn Trent from mid 2010. The project, worth £40m, was won in competition in a single stage design and construct tender. The two-year programme starts now and will provide Severn Trent with 16,000 sq m of high quality office space for their 1,700 employees. The project will achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.

In addition, HBG has recently been awarded two other projects - the Q3 Academy in Great Barr and Slingfield Mill in Kidderminster.

The Q3 Academy is an £18m project to replace the existing Dartmouth High School. The two and three storey concrete frame building includes the provision of new sports pitches and has an overall contract period of two years. The New Academy will cater for 900 11-16 year old pupils and 250 16-18 year old pupils.

The Slingfield Mill project is a £4.5m extension to an existing Grade 2 listed Mill to provide two floors of retail for Debenhams and three floors of shell accommodation for future hotel fit-out. Henderson Global Investors manage the existing busy Retail Park and have awarded this contract on a two stage arrangement. The main works feature two glass box extensions to the listed building with internal and roof alterations to accommodate new stairs, lifts and plant areas.

Richard Dakin, director for HBG in the Midlands, said,

‘Securing these three contrasting projects which are worth more than £62m together puts HBG in a very strong position for the rest of 2008 and 2009.’

HBG has just handed-over the newly constructed and highly regarded Joseph Chamberlain College on time and to budget for it to open for the new academic year. In Solihull, it is about to complete three schools in the country’s first wave under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

In October, HBG UK Ltd will change to BAM Construct UK Ltd. The re-branding exercise forms part of Royal BAM Group’s previously defined strategy to reinforce the BAM brand.
