The company is now in negotiations with the College to discuss the design of the new campus which requires approval from the Learning and Skills Council before the project can go ahead in full.
The new Riverside Campus represents a continuation of BAM’s involvement with major colleges in the Midlands. The Campus will comprise 22,300m sq on a brown field site and form a continuous spiral from four to six stories with an external glass envelope. It will feature a courtyard and have hard and soft landscaping. The project is scheduled to begin on site in April 2009 and complete at the end of 2010. The architects are Nicholas Hare and the structural engineers are BAM Design.
Richard Dakin, Director of BAM Construction in the Midlands, said,
‘This would be a very significant win for the BAM in the Midlands and builds on our strong reputation in Birmingham. Our team is looking forward to working closely with the College and we hope to have the opportunity of working on the Riverside Campus project, which is both exciting and innovative.’
