BAM Properties has let its development in Buchanan Street, Glasgow to Nike. The leading global sports brand has secured its target of a flagship store on Buchanan Street. Opening is scheduled for Spring 2011. Nike has taken the property on institutional terms as befits the strength of the location. Buchanan Street, a listed building, was acquired by BAM in 2006. The exterior of the property has been restored to its former glory while the interior has been transformed to maximise space and enable Nike to deliver an exciting experience for shoppers. The ground floor has a highly visible 55ft frontage. The property is on the prime retailing pitch at the southern end of Buchanan Street – one of Europe’s leading retail thoroughfares. Richard Buxton, Retail Director at BAM Properties, says ‘our development at Buchanan Street has secured the internationally iconic retailer it deserves. The speed at which we were able to let Buchanan Street following our restoration work, shows that BAM Properties’ strategy of focusing on creating the best space in prime locations is the way of attracting the best occupiers. BAM has already sold floors four, five and six as office space. ‘Nike’s presence in Glasgow demonstrates the continued draw of Glasgow as the UK’s second busiest shopping centre and adds to its reputation for fun, fashion and style. ‘BAM Properties' view is that the polarisation in the market towards the strongest retail locations will continue.’ ENDS Notes to editors About BAM Properties BAM Properties is a leading player in the UK property development market and part of Royal BAM Group, a worldwide construction services company turning over more than €8 billion and listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
