BAM Construct UK has appointed Douglas Keillor as the Regional Director for BAM Construction in Scotland. Moving from his previous position as the Construction Director for our West of Scotland and retail operations, Douglas has risen up through the ranks having joined the company 24 years ago initially to work on a summer placement from Napier University. He is a member of the CIOB and has studied business and management at both the Roffey Park Institute and Henley Business School.
Douglas is the third generation of his family to be involved in the Scottish construction industry. With roots in the North East, his father is the founder of the well-known Dundee based cost consultant, Keillor Laurie Martin Partnership and his grandfather owned a joinery and coach building firm which is still run by members of the family today.
Douglas, who now lives in Linlithgow, said, ‘The Scottish construction industry is in my veins and I always saw myself working in this industry. I am delighted to be leading BAM Construction in Scotland at this challenging time. We have a great team and a clear strategy for developing the business and I’m relishing the opportunity’. Over the years, Douglas has been responsible for delivering a number of high profile projects in the office and retail sectors including the original extension to the Edinburgh Royal Hospital for Sick Children, the new Anniesland College, the Bio-medical building at Strathclyde University and more recently the delivery of new schools and leisure projects in Renfrewshire, along with being responsible for the management and delivery of over 80 Asda stores across the UK in a relationship that has lasted since 1996.

Douglas takes over the helm from Ken Irving who has retired after 17 years and we are grateful to Ken for his commitment and service.’ Based in Stepps, Glasgow, BAM Construction has delivered a number of key projects over the past fifty years such as the £18m refurbishment of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow and the Riverside Transport Museum.
