BAM FM – the rapidly growing facilities management business of BAM Construct UK – is to be regulated by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). RICS is the world’s leading body for monitoring professional standards in land, property and construction, originally established in the UK by Royal Charter.
Following its rigorous process for evaluating corporate membership, RICS has approved BAM FM’s application. BAM will now adhere to the RICS codes of conduct, and its professional standards and scrutiny.
Reid Cunningham BAM’s Strategy Director says,
“Being independently regulated by RICS is a significant step for us and our clients. It demonstrates our commitment to being an ethical and accountable business.
“As well as reinforcing high standards and development for our people, our clients also have independent reassurance that we are indemnified, and follow proper procedures.
“This is what we feel they should expect of us and what we should expect of ourselves.”
BAM’s FM business is pioneering the use of BIM in the facilities management sector, and promoting the whole lifecycle approach for developing buildings. The company is targeting a £100m turnover by 2017 and currently manages facilities for over 45 schools and 200 other locations in both public and private sectors.
Later this month BAM FM’s managing director, Kath Fontana, will speak at the RICS strategic FM conference.
