Fellow BAM graduate Myles Cole-Ganney, also an Assistant Project Surveyor who attended the awards, said “I was able to rotate between disciplines, from site management to surveying and planning, which was really useful. It gave me a much better understanding of the design and construction process, and how disciplines integrate.”
BAM’s graduate programme develops young people to be confident and autonomous as Myles found out. “I was trusted to manage the fit-out of Seven Pancras Square at King’s Cross after my first year which was a fantastic experience.”
Graduates valued job security, the fact the graduate scheme is recognised across the company, and good career progression opportunities. “A good benefits package and professional development support also help us attract the right talent.” adds Nigel. “As the industry faces up to a future skills gap, it’s important to invest in and train the right calibre of students and graduates to become successful BAM managers in the future.”
